Vinnie and Anna discuss how ego can get in the way of becoming a better athlete, plus they discuss Andrew Weaver’s blog.
Michael Tortorich sums up the podcast in the My Uncle Vinnie Blog Wrap Up:
Vinnie begins this show talking about his experience with skeet shooting. Lesson to be learned? Don’t let your ego get in the way. Vinnie and Anna then get into Andrew Weaver’s blog (check out the link above). Later, they debate structure to aerobic exercise. Vinnie then brings up The Heart Attack Grill. That goes right into talk of taxing soda.

I kicked the ego to the curb this week and I feel so much better physically and mentally. As much as I can train in a Z4 for a long time, I can appreciate and completely understand from a physiology stand point, why it's so important to train in Z2 the majority of the time. Coming from a exercise phys background as well, I admit that I did get caught up in the faster is better mentality but I am listening with ears wide open and am thankful for your reminders about telling the ego to shut the fuck up! All of my runs this week have been in Z2 and this AM, a 9.1 mile run and 30 mile bike entirely in Z2, no excuses.
Girl, it has been THE BEST thing ever! Going back to the ex phys roots…to the basic fundamentals….I've never felt better…I don't hurtn EVER, I'm not tired….it's Ahhhh-MAZING!
oops….and then when it's time to go hard…the ability to produce is beyond what I could ever hope for….discipline, discipline, discipline….so hard, but damn, the results speak for itself! Enjoy the re-discovery!
Jennifer Shipp Graham, Kristie Concepcion… Good work ladies… I look forward to hearing of your progress!
Love love love the podcacst. I've been in z2 all week thanks to that.
John, It's the little secret that pays big all year long. Keep up the great work!
Love the podcast! I call ego, at least for men, man-go (aka, male ego). Anyway, been following no sugar and no grains for the past 12 days and I'm down 12 lbs. What's great is that I have not felt hungry. I have not counted calories. I'm just eating when I'm hungry, and I'm eating the right foods! Thanks Vinnie and thanks Anna. I believe!
Greg, How's the Chi Running working for you?
Like a champ. I feel so much better running with that style. Today, I really focused my entire run on Chi. Managed to get in 7 solid miles.
